Background
Today the market leader in cigar cutlery, Xikar quickly rose from rather humble beginnings in 1996. After only six months of design and developement, President Kurt Van Keppel and his partner Scott Almsberger produced their first cigar cutters by hand in a local machine tool shop, then assembled and packaged them in Kurt's garage. The Xi Cutter was an immediate success, and within a year was being mass produced and distributed world wide.In 2001, after a successful Blade Show appearance, Kurt and Scott expanded their product line into the pocket folding knife market. Today the Kansas City, Missouri based company continues to provide a wide variety of items for the cigar afficiando, as well as folding knives, fixed blades, multitools, lighters, and accessories.
